Step 4 of Selling a Small Business - Marketing

The fourth step in the process of selling a small business is creating and implementing a marketing plan.

Depending on the type and size of your business there are many strategies we can incorporate into our marketing strategy for your company.

For starters, we will contact our own internal database. entrepreneurs, business owners, first-time business buyers and private equity groups in our opt-in email database. We will send out a "blind ad" that gives basic information about the business without revealing the identity and location of the company.

We have memberships with dozens of major websites designed for advertising businesses for sale where we also place blind ads to generate interest with business buyers.

What we may also, depending on the business is to identify similar businesses in the region and purchase mail lists identifying their owners or contacts in charge of corporate development and design and contact them confidentially to see if they are interested in capable of expanding their own business by acquiring a new one.

At this point we will start receiving inquiries from potential buyers who are responding to our various advertisements and wish to find out more.  ...Continue on to Step 5 - Screening and Qualifying Buyers
